Hi thanks for the question, being this is the web I wasnt sure if you wanted me to respond here or in an email. But since this question seems to come up allot. I figured it would be a good idea to answer in here, for the benefit of others looking for answers. It is somewhat normal for a womans desire to fluctuate as they get older. there are several reasons for this.
changes in the vaginal tissue. this can cause an issue with arousal and lubrication.
which can lead to painful sex at times due to the thinning on the vaginal tissue. this can be checked out by her dr. and remember to always use lots of lube.
Also how is her health? if she is going thru depressions, body image, physical illness, such as arthritis? Any of these can cause reduced desire. But remember sex is a great pain killer. well at least the endorphins that are released are..so if she does have pain but is able to have sex, its a good way to cut down on the pain meds. Older women also may require more stimulation in order to become aroused due to lack of sensitivity, so dont hold back on the romance.
One of the number one causes however is hormonal decrease. this can be combated by therapy. you can ask you dr about perhaps starting her on hormone therapy a little at a time of course.. first off you should talk to your dr and have her examined to rule out any physical issues. Sexual response is a complex interaction of many components, including physiology, emotions, experiences, beliefs, lifestyle and relationships. If any one of these components is disrupted, sexual drive, arousal or satisfaction may be affected. a healthy diet and exercise are two of the most important things she can do to revive her sex drive. there are also some wonderful books out there on this subject.. one is
"Resurrecting Sex: Solving Sexual Problems & Revolutionizing Your Relationship," by David Schnarch, Ph.D.
Also please read my blogs on touching and senate focus exercises. if you still have questions, i would be happy to hear back from you. and please let me know how it works out..
